About Ben Berkon
Ben Berkon currently works as an Assistant Producer at Ogilvy & Mather, a worldwide advertising firm. Berkon has worked on projects for IBM, Siemens, Coke, TD Ameritrade, Citizens Bank, and many more.
Prior to Ogilvy & Mather, Berkon worked as the Web site editor at Livestream.com, which is a live streaming, video platform on the Internet. As the Web site editor, he updated the site’s blog, wrote the company newsletter and press releases for new partnerships, and maintained the featured videos on the site’s home page.
He has also worked in the footage and writing departments at the Onion News Network (ONN), the online video version of the Onion newspaper. He searched through archives of videos and stills to find applicable footage for the corresponding scripts, and contributed his own ideas at the weekly pitch meetings.
In his free time, Berkon contributes daily to his comedy Web site, SomethingYouShouldRead.com, which features comedic, absurdist, and satirical articles, comics, haikus, pictures, and many other “ha-ha” segments. In addition to his own sites, Berkon blogs for the Comedy 23/6 section of the HuffingtonPost.com with mostly politically centered humor pieces. He has also free-lanced for RisingApple.com, Tonic.com, BrandChannel.com, NewYork.com, and various other Web sites.
Berkon is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he majored in History and minored in Creative Writing. He was born and raised in New York City, where he also presently lives.
